Cleveland- Family Spin-off

New details are emerging on “Cleveland,” the spinoff of the animated Fox series “Family Guy.” Mike told you about it back in February. According to the Hollywood Reporter, its first season will feature 13 episodes. “Family Guy” creators Seth MacFarlane, Rich Appel and Mike Henry are currently getting their support staff together but writers are said to begin work May 19 for an initial first table read on the first week of July.
This show represents Fox’s first new animated series in three years. “Cleveland” will follow the family life of Cleveland Brown, the most level-headed-and slow-talking-of Peter’s friends on “Family Guy.” Cleveland represents the stereotypes. Back in season four, Cleveland divorced his wifeLoretta Brown, whom he divorced was having an affair with one of his friends. He also has a hyperactive and ADD-afflicted son, Cleveland Jr.
I’ve never been a Family Guy kind of person. Honestly not a huge sitcom fan at all. I get the whole stereotypical bit and how it can be funny but it’s a little played to me. I know “The Family Guy” had a huge following and I’m sure this will do well also but I wonder if it does more to promote racial stereotypes by its obvious parody than it does to eliminate them.
